After 5 years working as a CFO for the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society in Paris, I wanted to set up a social business. I travelled for a year and a half to meet social entrepreneurs in 20 countries working in very different fields to learn about their challenges, to help them to develop their business and to decide what social business I would start. At the end of this travel, I set up Last Mile for BoP. A profit-for-purpose company that aims to distribute cost-saving and income-generating products and services designed for the poor in order to better their life and help them to get out of poverty. Last Mile for BoP is based in Cape Town, South Africa, and we are now looking for partners, investors and interns.
Social innovations have a limited impact when they could change the lives of billions
The distribution networks used for these social innovations need to be optimized and developed to reach all the people who need it everywhere.
