
A former classical musician and magician, Lain’s first foray into the world of entrepreneurship was starting an independent rock record label at 18 while studying at music conservatory in London. Following this he has developed organizations and social enterprises in numerous countries, most recently pioneering microcredit and responsible tourism models in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Vietnam. He has provided advice and technical assistance to numerous social enterprises and organizations around the world (often pro-bono!) and is passionate about future sustainability (the intersection of climate change, agriculture, water, energy, and population), low-cost and indigenous technology solutions, microfinance, sustainable tourism, improved cookstoves and education.He co-created the business model innovation at the base of the pyramid course at the London School of Economics and frequently gives workshops and presentations on these topics.
