Stages and deliverables

The GSBC consists of three major stages: the sign-up stage, the ideation stage, and the finals. Your project will be structured along the deliverables outlined below. As you will see, the ideation stage is quite short, with the second deadline only just over a month after the first one. We therefore encourage you to start thinking about the second set of questions as early as possible. Remember that the earlier you post your answers to all questions on SENStation.org, the more and higher-quality feedback you will receive.

Finally, we have added some downloads that may help you with your deliverables. Take a look and make the best use of them!

24th March 2013, First draft

Assignments

Fill out the application form and send it to gsbc@beta.senstation.org.
Create your project in the projects section.
Provide answers to the four questions below (max. 2,000 characters each):

1. Problem: What is the problem you are trying to solve?
2. Solution: What is the solution (product or service) you want to realize?
3. Customer: Who is/are your customer(s) and what benefits are you bringing to them?
4. Business model: What is the business model behind your solution that will make it sustainable?

Update your answers to the first four questions on your project page based on the feedback you have received.
Provide answers to the four questions below (max. 2,000 characters each).
Fill the answers out in your project and send all answers, including the updated questions 1-4, to gsbc@beta.senstation.org:

5. Competition: What is your direct and indirect competition?
6. USP: What is your Unique Selling Proposition and how do you differentiate yourself from your competition?
7. SWOT: What are the strengths and weaknesses of your social business and what are the opportunities and threats in your environment?
8. Social impact: What social impact do you plan to create and how will you measure it?

Assignments

Create a video (max. 2:30 minutes) describing and promoting your project. You have total freedom in what type of video you will make: an animation video, taping a pitch, or even showing in real life what your project is all about. Upload your video to Youtube and post it on your project page.

24th June 2013, Additional questions for finalists

Assignments

Update your answers to the first eight questions on your project page based on the feedback you have received.
Provide answers to the five questions below (max. 2,000 characters each).
Send all answers, including the updated questions 1-8, to gsbc@beta.senstation.org:

9. Stakeholders: Who are the main stakeholders in your social business and how do you intend to motivate/involve them?
10. Team: What are the greatest strengths and weaknesses of your team members in the realization of this social business? How do you intend to maximise your strengths and limit your weaknesses?
11. Action plan: How are you planning to make your social business reality? Please provide a detailed planning for the first six months and an outline with your main milestones for the first two years.
12. Financial plan: Please provide a financial planning (in Excel) for the first three years.
13. Prize money: How do you plan to use the prize money in case you win?
